Description
This Royal Copenhagen "Blue Pheasant" plate is a vintage Danish faience piece created in the 1970s–1980s.
The design is based on original artwork by Christian Joachim, featuring a striking arrangement of yellow and deep blue patterns encircling the central white space. These motifs abstractly represent layered pheasant feathers, from which the name "Pheasant" is derived—not from the bird itself, but from the overlapping feather forms.
The plate has a slightly thicker body than standard porcelain, giving it a warm, tactile presence closer to earthenware.
The backstamp includes a crown and three wave lines, a hallmark of Royal Copenhagen. This piece also reflects the legacy of Aluminia, a workshop acquired by the company, known for its distinctive use of bold colors such as yellow and deep cobalt blue.
On the reverse side, there are approximately five kiln spur marks. These are traces left by small clay supports used during firing to prevent pieces from sticking together. In faience production, stacking during firing was common for efficiency, and typically three to five supports were used.
The presence of five spur marks indicates that this plate was carefully supported during firing due to its weight and structure. In the world of antiques and vintage ceramics, these marks are not considered damage but rather evidence of traditional production methods.
Such marks are especially characteristic of pieces produced in the Aluminia workshop lineage during the 1970s–1980s, reflecting the craftsmanship and manufacturing techniques of the time.
The kiln marks on the back serve as proof that this is not a modern mass-produced porcelain piece, but a vintage object that retains the presence and touch of the artisans who created it.


このロイヤルコペンハーゲンの「ブルーフェザント」プレートは、1970年代から80年代に制作されたデンマークのヴィンテージファイアンス作品です。
Christian Joachimの原画をもとにしたデザインで、中央の白い余白を囲むように配置された黄色と深い青の模様が特徴です。この模様はキジの羽を抽象化したものであり、「フェザント（キジ）」という名称は鳥そのものではなく、羽の重なりから由来しています。
一般的な磁器よりもやや厚手で、陶器に近い温かみのある質感を持っています。
裏印に見られる王冠と3本の波線はロイヤルコペンハーゲンの特徴であり、同時に同社が買収したアルミニア窯の流れを汲む製品でもあります。黄色や濃紺といった色彩は、その伝統的な感覚が活かされたものです。

アンティークやヴィンテージの世界では、目跡は傷ではなく当時の製造工程を示す特徴として評価されます。特に1970〜80年代のアルミニア系統の製品には、こうした手仕事の痕跡がよく見られます。
この裏面の目跡は、現代の量産磁器ではなく、当時の職人の息遣いが感じられるヴィンテージであることを示す証とも言えます。
